Bats

Bats is part of the October half-term programme at Monkton Nature Reserve near Ramsgate in Kent.

The reserve's Scots pine cones have gone batty. Foraged from the woodland floor, the giant cones are transformed into bats with fuzzy ears and fangy smiles, ready for this season's celebrations.

What to expect:

• Two sittings: Tuesday 27 October at 11am and Friday 30 October at 1pm
• Make a bat from a foraged Scots pine cone and take it home
• Find out about the Scots pine and about bats
• Play the 'Bat and Moth' game
• "Price is per child only. Includes entrance to the reserve." — accompanying adults are free of charge
• £5.00 per child, booked in advance; cancellations within 24 hours cannot be refunded
• Held in a 16-acre former chalk quarry with woodland, ponds, chalk cliffs and a bat cave to explore
• Your ticket also gets you the reserve's trail walks, sculpture hunt, nature bingo and brass rubbing
