Craft workshop: Crimson Marvels at the Queen's House is part of October half term at the Queen's House, which runs 25 October to 1 November 2026.

Inspired by the magnificent Battle of Solebay Tapestry, discover how artists once used pigments made from insects to create rich crimson and carmine threads.

What to expect:

• Wednesday 28 October, drop-in sessions 11am-1pm and 2pm-4pm
• Help make a collaborative tapestry artwork or create your own colourful design
• Held in the Undercroft at the Queen's House
• Half-term theme: creepy crawlies
• The half-term activities are free, drop-in and suitable for all ages and abilities
• Pick up a family trail or kit to explore the galleries while you are there
