About this event
The Dundee Christmas Switch-On is part of Christmas in Dundee, Dundee City Council's festive programme. The council says this year's celebrations "will again begin with the Dundee Christmas Switch-On on Sunday 15 November", the day the city centre tree lights come on.
What to expect:
- Sunday 15 November 2026, in Dundee city centre - the opening day of the city's festive season
- Times and line-up for 2026 are not out yet - the date was announced on 21 August, with further details to follow
- The 2025 switch-on it is modelled on had "a Christmas Market, funfair rides, musical performances, street performers, food and drink, a craft tent, and even an appearance from Santa himself"
- A drone light show may be added this year - the council has tendered for one, "subject to procurement"
- The Dundee Santa Dash runs through the city centre the same morning, before the switch-on
- An outdoor street event, so wrap up warm and expect the centre to be busy - thousands came in 2025
