Family Day: Inspired by the Bayeux Tapestry

Family Day is part of the programme at Hastings Contemporary, the gallery on the shingle beach in Hastings.

Explore, create and play your way around the gallery this October half-term, with activities in every space and an artist-led workshop in the studio, going back 900 years to the events that led to the Battle of Hastings in 1066.

What to expect:

• Thursday 29 October 2026, 11am to 4pm
• Design and make your own block prints on fabric inspired by the Bayeux Tapestry
• Make a collaborative woven artwork with fabric and yarn, and collage strange beasts from the Tapestry's borders
• Draw a comic strip telling the story of your own small victory
• Led by artists Chantelle Brett and Claire Griffiths
• "No need to book, just drop in."
