Family Storytelling Day at the National Museum of Scotland

Family Storytelling Day at the National Museum of Scotland is part of the Scottish International Storytelling Festival family programme, which runs 10 to 31 October 2026.

Encounter birds, beasts and beasties of all kinds with a full day of free fun at the National Museum of Scotland, featuring stories and crafts for all the family.

What to expect:

• Saturday 24 October 2026, 10:30 to 16:30, with stories running through the day
• Claire McNicol tells stories of woodland and forest, the changing seasons and the birds and beasts among the trees
• Janis Mackay tells of sea creatures real and mythical, and tales of tide, weather and wave
• Macastory lead a Story Safari around the museum
• Gauri Raje and Patrick Chadwick meet the wee-est of the Wee Folk, with footage of bugs and beasties
• "Plenty of family-friendly crafts and activities" between the stories
• Free, at the National Museum of Scotland on Chambers Street, Edinburgh
