About this event
Footsteps in the Forest turns Slieve Gullion Forest Park into the Otherworld of Samhain, the ancient Gaelic festival that inspired Halloween, with an illuminated woodland trail, mythical characters and theatrical performances after dark.
What to expect:
- Wednesday 21 to Tuesday 27 October 2026, with bookable sessions from 4pm to 8pm
- The experience lasts approximately 60 – 80 minutes
- A 1.65km woodland trail with lantern-lit paths, storytellers around crackling fires and live performances
- Interactive Samhain customs including pumpkin carving, mask-making and fortune-telling
- Ticketed and advance booking is essential; each ticket admits one car with up to seven seats
- The £10 ticket per car includes the Slieve Gullion Forest Park car parking fee
- Wear warm, waterproof clothing and sturdy shoes – the trail has steep gradients and uneven surfaces
- Anyone under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a parent/guardian
