Fungi Fest

Fungi Fest is part of the programme at the Castle Howard Arboretum, near York. One day given over entirely to mushrooms, with working scientists turning a building over to hands-on fungus activities.

What to expect:

• “Scientists from FERA will be turning the Tree Health Centre into a Mycology lab… showing off fungi activities for everyone to take part in”
• “A special walk spotting fungal diseases will be free to join in the afternoon”
• A guided Fungi Foray runs in the morning, booked and paid for separately
• Runs 10am - 4pm on Saturday 17 October 2026
• “Free to explore and take part in with Arboretum admission tickets, and for Members (with the exception of the Fungi Foray)”
• Mostly outdoors across the Arboretum, so boots and a coat are worth having
• Drop in — no booking needed for the Fest itself
