About this event
The Gartell Light Railway is a delightful narrow gauge railway in South Somerset, privately operated by the Gartell family and their friends and opened to the public only on selected dates. After about 45 years, Sunday 25 October 2026 is its last open day.
What to expect:
- Sunday 25 October 2026, including a model railway exhibition
- On open days trains normally leave Common Lane every 25 minutes between 10:30 and 15.55, pulled by steam or diesel, calling at Pinesway Junction, Tower View and Park Lane
- A return journey takes about 35 minutes; you can break your journey at any station
- On this final day all tickets are valid for one round trip only; further journeys are chargeable
- Adults £10.00, Child (Under 14) £5.00, Children under 3 travel FREE, Family ticket £25-00 (2 adults and up to 2 children); the special last train at 16:00 is £15.00 per person
- Tickets from the ticket office in the 'Pines' buffet; free car park at Common Lane (BA8 0NB)
