Halloween Spooky Specials at Apedale Valley Light Railway

The Halloween Spooky Specials are part of the events programme at the Apedale Valley Light Railway, the volunteer-run steam railway at Apedale Heritage Centre near Newcastle-under-Lyme.

Steam trains after dark for Halloween, run by the volunteers of the Moseley Railway Trust.

What to expect:

• Three dates picked to fit around school half-term: Sunday 25 October, Friday 30 and Saturday 31 October 2026
• Steam trains run at frequent intervals, starting at 4pm and finishing with the last train at 8pm
• No trains operate before 4pm on these dates
• There's no need to book in advance, just turn up
• The railway advises you wrap up warm and bring a torch – it's dark in the car parking area
• It warns there's a chance (actually, pretty much a certainty) you may get wet – so be prepared
• If you have little ones, the railway suggests coming earlier in the evening before it gets fully dark
