Heritage Train Rides

Heritage Train Rides is part of the programme at Stephenson Steam Railway in North Shields. Take a four-mile return trip along the historic route once taken by coal trains from the collieries to the River Tyne, in a vintage 1950s passenger carriage.

What to expect:

• Sunday 11 October, Sunday 18 October and Thursday 29 October (half term)
• Each journey lasts approximately 35-40 minutes
• Before or after your ride, visit the museum, meet Killingworth Billy and explore the outdoor Woodland Walk
• Museum opening times: 11am-4pm
• "Adult: £11 (£9 without optional donation) Concessions: £9 (60+ years & under 21s, £7 without optional donation) Child aged 4 and under: FREE"
• No wheelchair access to the carriages (door openings 55cm); wheelchair users must be able to self-transfer
• Rides are run by volunteers and are subject to availability
