About this event
Holiday workshops: Electrical and electronic control (Year 7, 8 and 9) is part of the Holiday workshops programme at the Royal Institution in London.
Step into the shoes of real engineers and take on the challenge of designing a mini airport transport system.
What to expect:
- Monday 26 October 2026, 14:15 to 16:30
- Working in pairs, participants create a pressure switch and use a slide switch to guide an electric buggy through increasingly complex tasks, from basic movements to fully automated return journeys
- They then programme an onboard computer to navigate the buggy across multiple stations, simulating real systems like London's DLR or Heathrow
- For children in the school year group named in the title; the Ri says this "typically corresponds to children aged around 11–14 years old", and it reserves the right to refund or deny entry to those outside it
- The page lists the ticket price as "£40.00"
