About this event
How Does It Work is part of the family-friendly programme at the History of Science Museum in Oxford.
Ever wondered how our ingenious scientific instruments work? Join our volunteers for an afternoon getting hands-on with some of our collections — and see our amazing objects in action.
What to expect:
- Weekend afternoons, 12.00-4.00pm: 24 and 25 October, 28 and 29 November 2026, 30 and 31 January 2027
- "All welcome. Activities for adults and families (7+)"
- Free entry
- Light and Space backpacks with hands-on activities in every gallery, designed as inclusive SEND-friendly packs
- Family Scavenger Hunt trails, from Spot the Animal to Mission: Morse Code
- Led by volunteers, so a date may occasionally be postponed or cancelled; changes are posted on the website and social media
- The museum's lift is not suitable for pushchairs
