Making Mixed Species Work is part of the talks programme at Bristol Zoo Project, the conservation zoo at Blackhorse Hill near Cribbs Causeway. "What does it take to successfully bring two very different primate species together?"

What to expect:

  • Saturday 17 October 2026, 2pm to 3.30pm
  • "Join us for an engaging look at the planning, preparation, and ongoing management behind mixed-species habitats featuring mangabeys and gorillas."
  • Led by animal keeper Gareth Davies, drawing on habitat design, animal introductions, behavioural monitoring and welfare
  • "Suitable for ages 8+"
  • "This talk will start at 2pm with plenty of time for questions at the end, with a finishing time of 3.30pm."
