About this event
Mother Shipton is a brand-new show for Halloween 2026 in the programme at The York Dungeon. "Step back into the 16th century and become immersed in the world of Mother Shipton; the infamous prophetess of Knaresborough. They called her monster. A witch. But what if there was another side to the story?"
What to expect:
- Runs 10 October to 1 November 2026 and is included in standard Dungeon admission
- You enter her hideout, where "flickering fires tell tales of the past and the line between prophecy and reality begins to blur"
- It joins ten actor-led shows on 2,000 years of York's dark history
- The Dungeon's own guidance: "suitable for children aged 8 and above", at the parent's discretion; under-5s are not permitted and under-16s need an adult
- "Not a scare attraction, nor a horror maze" but very dark, with loud noises, strobe lighting, strong smells and actor jump scares
- Opening hours vary date to date, so check your day and book online in advance
