Pumpkin Sunday at the West Lancashire Light Railway

Pumpkin Sunday is part of the 2026 special events programme at the West Lancashire Light Railway in Hesketh Bank.

"Ride the trains & choose your pumpkin!" The railway's own poster adds: travel by heritage narrow gauge steam train to collect your Tarleton-grown pumpkins - no muddy field.

What to expect:

• Sunday 11 October 2026, 11.30am to 4.30pm, and "you can ride all day on your ticket!"
• "Free pumpkin with every child ticket."
• "Steam engine plus our Hudswell mines diesel, catering van & tearoom."
• The poster adds pumpkin painting with water-based marker pens, two engines in steam and pumpkin soup from the Fireman's Shovel wagon
• It also says children in Halloween costumes can travel for £3.00
• "Fares are Adult £7, Child £6, Family (2+2) £18, Senior/armed forces concession £5.50."
• "The site is free to enter - there is a charge for train rides" - parking is free
