Roman Leather Bag Making is part of the programme at The Chester House Estate in Little Irchester, Wellingborough.
Make your own Roman-style leather bag and learn about ancient leatherworking, based on the Saccus with its front-tie fastening.
What to expect:
- Runs on Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 November 2026
- Dye your leather in a colour of your choosing, punch the holes and stitch the bag together
- "Your session will last from 09.30am until 12noon" - you may not finish the bag in that time
- You are welcome to stay in the workshop space until 3.30pm to carry on, with guidance
- Scissors, awl, hammer, hole punches, needle, strap cutter, pliers and leather dyes are used
- "Suitable for complete beginners, and older children with adult supervision"
- All materials and tools are supplied on the day
- Everything you make, you take home
- "Price: £30.00" (plus a £0.60 booking fee)
