Santa Specials at the Royal Deeside Railway

Santa Specials is part of the programme at the Royal Deeside Railway, Milton of Crathes. Refreshments are handed out on the platform to take onto a steam train ride down the line, with festive singing, and on the way back the children get their presents from Santa in a grotto by the station.

What to expect:

• About 30-45 minutes in all: roughly twenty minutes on the train, twenty with Santa
• The elves ask each child's age so that Santa's gift suits them
• Child tickets (ages 1-9) include a present from Santa, a choice of biscuit and a drink
• Adult tickets (ages 10 and over) include the ride, a mince pie and a hot or cold drink
• Under 1s travel free; a "lap child ticket" can be reserved if you want them to have a present too
• Seats are numbered around tables, so a family can book to sit together
• The grotto is in an outdoor tent; two wheelchair spaces on the train, with attendant seats beside them
• Arrive ten minutes before your train's departure; free car parking on site
