Sashiko Stitch Signatures is part of the programme at Derby Museums.
Join textile artist Seiko Kinoshita to create your own stitched identity by learning the ancient and traditional art of Sashiko, used for centuries in Japanese culture to adorn and mend clothing.
What to expect:
- Saturday 17 October 2026, 10.30am-3.30pm
- "Suitable for ages 8+ (under 12's to be accompanied by an adult)"

- All materials provided, but you can bring an item of your own clothing to adorn or mend
- Seiko guides you in experimenting with techniques to make clothes unique and last longer
- Inspired by World 170 of the Fashion Fictions project, where stitched signatures stand for complex identities
- Part of the Field to Fashion project at the Museum of Making; the River Kitchen cafe is on site
