ShRIek: The spooky science of the paranormal (family) is part of the public programme at the Royal Institution in London.

Do you believe in ghosts? Steve McNeil of WiFi Wars does not - but he has seen one, twice. He joins the Ri Demo Team's Michael Cutts for a spooky science adventure through the Ri's own strange historical relationship with the occult, recreating Victorian experiments with objects from the Royal Institution's collection to ask whether there is a scientific explanation for every spooky story.

What to expect:

• Saturday 31 October 2026, 2.30pm to 3.45pm; doors open at approximately 2.15pm for a prompt start
• A theatre event for children and adults to enjoy together - the Ri recommends its family talks for children aged 7 to 13
• Surprising demonstrations, curious historical tales and a Halloween atmosphere
