Small Engines Gala

A new gala weekend at the Epping Ongar Railway: “An exciting weekend where our small engines, both steam and diesel, come out to play alongside some visiting locomotives too!” “Up to 8 diminutive industrial locomotives in action!”

What to expect:

• Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 November 2026
• “Hourly service between North Weald and Ongar, with frequent shuttle services into Epping Forest too.”
• Visiting engines include the “'LOST' ENGINE!” Bagnall pannier tank 'Brookfield', “Discovered in a Convent and recently returned to steam!”
• Inclusive vintage London buses run all day from outside Epping Underground station
• LNER Cafe at North Weald “including breakfast rolls until 11.30”; the Buffet Stop open at Ongar
• The Penny Salon Gallery at Ongar is open with a winter photography exhibition, free admission
• No car parking at the stations – park at Ongar (CM5 9AB) or Epping (CM16 4HW)
