Steam & Screams

Steam & Screams is part of the events programme at Swanage Railway in Dorset.

This Halloween, Swanage Railway takes a darker turn. Steam & Screams is its after-dark Halloween experience for ages 14+, featuring live actors, jump scares, atmospheric scenes and an onboard licensed bar, with characters drawn from the darker side of local history.

What to expect:

• One night only: Saturday 31 October 2026
• The railway states "Ages 14+"
• Live actors play Lady Mary Bankes of Corfe Castle, a soldier haunted by the trenches, a Purbeck pirate and a heartbroken Victorian lady
• "Expect live actors, jump scares and frightening scenes throughout the experience"
• A fully licensed onboard bar serves Halloween cocktails, local beers, wines and spirits, plus soft drinks and alcohol-free options
• "£30 per person"
• Freedom of the Line travel is included on other standard services that day
