Explore a stunning nine-acre woodland garden famous for spring rhododendrons, azaleas, and scenic loch views with marked walking trails.
Angus's Garden is a nine-acre woodland garden created in 1957 as a living memorial to Angus Macdonald and a symbol of forgiveness and reconciliation. The garden is renowned for its extensive collection of spring-flowering rhododendrons and azaleas, which reach their full glory between April and June, though the garden offers special tranquillity and charm year-round. Visitors can explore an informal network of marked circular walking paths through native woodland and shoreland, with three routes ranging from 30 minutes to 1.5 hours. The unspoilt setting is surrounded by magnificent views of Ben Cruachan and Glen Etive mountains, while an eleven-acre loch provides habitat for swans, ducks, and a wide range of wildlife. The garden features "Betty's Bell" on the northwest side, a tribute to Betty Macdonald's 40 years of creating this magical space. Angus's Garden welcomes families and nature enthusiasts of all ages, with dogs welcome on leads. Children under 16 enter free, making it an affordable family outing. The natural terrain and uneven, steep slopes with potential slippery surfaces suit visitors with good mobility and proper footwear. Open year-round from 9am to dusk, the garden operates as part of Scotland's Garden Scheme and opens for charity.
