Meet Britain's only free-ranging herd of reindeer roaming the Cairngorm Mountains with guided hill trips and paddock visits for families.

The Cairngorm Reindeer Herd is Britain's only free-ranging herd of reindeer, located in the Cairngorm Mountains of Scotland. With around 150 tame and friendly animals, the herd has been roaming freely since 1952, offering visitors a unique wildlife experience year-round. Visitors can experience the reindeer in two ways: guided Hill Trips for those able to manage a 30-40 minute walk over rough terrain to meet and feed the herd on the mountainside, or Paddock Visits at the Centre in Glenmore from Easter through the end of the year for a more accessible encounter. The venue operates a shop in Glenmore open daily (except January to early February) and offers seasonal experiences that vary depending on weather and herd location. Suitable for families and all ages, the experience combines outdoor adventure with animal interaction. The venue emphasizes accessibility and provides detailed information about what to wear and what to expect at different times of year. Gift vouchers are available, making it an ideal destination for wildlife enthusiasts and families seeking memorable encounters with these magnificent animals.
