Ride vintage steam and diesel trains through scenic Scottish countryside on this volunteer-run railway heritage attraction since 1979.

The Caledonian Railway offers families an immersive journey back in time aboard restored steam and diesel trains operating between Brechin Station and Bridge of Dun. Operating regular summer services including Steam Sundays and Diesel Saturdays, the railway provides authentic heritage rail experiences that appeal to all ages. Visitors can enjoy special themed events throughout the year, including popular family experiences like Day Out With Thomas, Peppa Pig visits, and the festive Polar Express journey. The railway also offers dining experiences such as afternoon teas and fish & chips meals served on board, making it a complete family outing rather than just a train ride. Run entirely by volunteers since 1979, the Caledonian Railway preserves railway heritage while providing memorable experiences for families, train enthusiasts, and visitors seeking traditional Scottish attractions. The venue is suitable for families with children of all ages, offering both regular scheduled services and special event programming throughout the year.
