The Fringe year, for families
The festival runs for most of August every year. If you are planning ahead, this is the rhythm to work to.
- Early June
The full programme is published and booking opens. Children’s shows in the best time slots go first, so this is the moment to book if you want a specific show.
- Late June
Accommodation in central Edinburgh is largely gone by now, and prices climb steeply through July.
- August
The festival runs. Most children’s shows are on in the morning and early afternoon, which leaves the rest of the day free.
- September
It is over for another year. This page switches back to planning notes until the next programme is announced.
