Brixton Windmill Open Days

Brixton Windmill Open Days are part of the programme at Brixton Windmill and Windmill Gardens in Brixton, run by the Friends of Windmill Gardens.

Friends of Windmill Gardens open Brixton Windmill on the second weekend of every month from March to October, a unique opportunity to learn more about this special landmark.

What to expect:

• 10-11 October is the last open weekend of the season; the calendar lists Saturday 10 October, 1pm to 5pm
• Full tours show two sets of millstones, the original wind-powered machinery and the Ashby family's 1902 stones. The full tour is £5 and takes 30 minutes, and you must book in advance
• If tours are full, 'turn up and go' short tours run through the afternoon for a small donation
• Children under 1.2m tall cannot go above the first floor, must climb the stairs by themselves, and babies cannot be carried on the stairs; under 14s must be with an adult
• Windmill Gardens has a children's playground, and the shop and cafe are open
