Christmas by Night: the Light Walk at Powderham Castle

Part of Christmas at the Castle, Powderham Castle's festive season in Devon. "When the light goes, Powderham lights up. Follow the trail through the grounds and past the lakeside, with the castle washed in colour ahead of you and something warm to drink along the way."

What to expect:

• Sunday 29 November to Wednesday 30 December 2026, closed Christmas Day and Boxing Day
• "Gates open at 4.15pm, and the lights stay on until 8.30pm"; last entry 7.30pm, arrival slots every 30 minutes from 4.15pm
• "Around 2.5km through the grounds and past the lakeside, at whatever pace suits you. Most families take a couple of hours"
• "The main routes are surfaced and level, though Powderham is a historic estate and some of the walk is grass, which can be soft after rain."
• "Adult (17+) £11.00", "Child (3–16) £8.80", "Under 3 free"
• The grotto is an optional add-on at "£11.95 per child"
• A Ferris wheel, a festive marquee and a hot chocolate hut are in the grounds
