Field to Fashion is part of the programme at Derby Museums.
From sheep to the clothes you wear. Ever wondered where your clothes really come from? Step into Field to Fashion to follow the journey of raw British fleece from sheep farming into fibre, and see how people make the clothes you cherish.
What to expect:
- Open until Sunday 3 January 2027 (it opened on 24 April 2026)
- Thanks to British Wool you can touch all kinds of real fleece and see how it is spun
- The story of John Smedley, who have been making knitwear in Derbyshire since 1784
- Work by De Montfort University and Derby College students, artists, designers and makers
- "FREE - Give what you think"
- "Suitable for all" - no booking needed, come during museum opening hours
- Workshops run alongside it, including Sashiko stitching in October
- The River Kitchen cafe is on site at the Museum of Making
