About this event
Step into a frightfully fun celebration of Scotland's Halloween traditions, packed with hands-on activities for all ages! But beware…you may cross paths with the mysterious hedgewife, or the provost may draw you in with tales of gruesome crimes and chilling punishments from long ago.
What to expect:
- Saturday 31 October 2026, 11am to 4pm
- Hands-on Halloween traditions, from dookin' for apples to a lively "dancing scream"
- Dress in your best costume and practise your jokes and poems for guising, under the eye of one of Scotland's historic royals
- Meet the hedgewife for myths and folklore, and the provost for tales of crime and punishment
- Included in admission price. We recommend booking online in advance for best price and to guarantee entry
- Free for Historic Scotland Members
- Photography and filming may take place for HES promotional use
