About this event

Light Up Festival is part of the programme at the National Coal Mining Museum for England, near Wakefield.

Join us for performances, dazzling lights, impressive lanterns and a spectacular live projection and soundscape, created by artist Fabric Lenny and musician Nick Lewis with schools and community groups.

What to expect:

  • Saturday 21 November 2026, free
  • 12pm-4.30pm: Makers’ Shed lantern making drop-in
  • From 4pm at Pit Yard: Hade Edge Brass Band, Bradford Belles, Villagers projection and a fire artist
  • 6.15pm-7pm: lantern parade led by Hade Edge Brass Band
  • Christmas food stalls and Light Up Trail through the day
  • Car park closes when full, so arrive early
  • Santa’s Magic Workshop also opens this day
