About this event
Norfolk Lights Express is part of the programme at the North Norfolk Railway (the Poppy Line) in Sheringham.
A magical after-dark journey: a steam-hauled train lit by thousands of tiny lights runs from Sheringham to Holt and back. For 2026 the theme is Around the World, with lineside displays of 8 global celebrations.
What to expect:
- Selected dates 14 November 2026 to 3 January 2027
- On-board narration and soundtrack; a festive celebration on the return journey 3-28 December
- Around 1 hour 45 minutes, with an intermission at Holt
- The operator advises families with children under 8 to consider the Santa Specials instead, as on-board lights are off during the show
- Under 3s travel free of charge on this service providing they do not occupy a seat
- Tickets from £21.50* per person
- Advance booking essential; no dogs except assistance dogs
- Father Christmas does not appear on this train
