About this event

October Half Term is part of the programme at Black Country Living Museum, a 29-acre open-air living museum in Dudley. This half term the historic town turns to folklore: "From black cats to magpies, to spilling the salt or walking under a ladder - there are superstitions a'plenty in the Black Country!"

What to expect:

  • Daily 24 October to 1 November 2026, 10am to 5pm
  • Meet the Wedding Party and help the Matron of Honour hunt down wedding essentials and the customs around them
  • "Meet an intriguing woman offering mysterious cures and advice" - a village witch, or is she?
  • "Meet the village undertaker and discover historic funeral customs", penny policies and Victorian mourning traditions
  • 29 acres besides: vintage trams and buses, live demonstrations, the 1920s Limelight Cinema, the fairground
  • Period food outlets on site - fish and chips, pork cobs, faggots and mushy peas
  • "BOOK ONLINE IN ADVANCE & SAVE 10%"; a full-price ticket converts to a year of free daytime returns
