About this event
Open Cockpits for Kids is part of the events programme at the Yorkshire Air Museum near York.
A chance for our younger visitors to get access to some of our aircraft cockpits. The museum is aiming for ten cockpits to be open, including the Harrier, Jaguar, Tucano and Tornado.
What to expect:
- Date: Sunday 11 October 2026, during museum opening hours (10am - 5pm, last admission 4pm)
- Ages 5 to 17 - no babies, toddlers or under-5s are admitted into the cockpits
- "There is an extra charge for this event, on top of your Admission ticket."
- "£10 gives you a wristband which grants cockpit access." Booking in advance is advised
- Parental supervision is required at all times; sensible footwear is needed
- Cockpits are small, restricted spaces; the museum advises against entry for anyone claustrophobic, pregnant or with limited mobility
- The Hawk will not now be taking part, for technical reasons
