Open Day at Wester Pickston Railway

Open Days are part of the programme at the Wester Pickston Railway Centre, run by the Scottish Model Engineering Trust in Perthshire woodland near Methven.

The site opens to the public with rides on members' steam and electric locomotives, the model railway shed open, the garden railway running and the workshop open so you can see how members work on their projects.

What to expect:

• Four open days in 2027: Sunday 28 March (Easter Sunday), Sunday 30 May, Sunday 1 August and Sunday 29 August
• The site is open 11am to 4pm on each of them
• Rides behind 7¼ inch and 5 inch gauge engines on 2km of ground-level track
• Shed 63A open with O, OO and N gauge layouts, plus the 32mm gauge garden railway
• Tickets for train rides are sold on the day at the station: £3 per single ride, or £10 for four tickets
• A cafe serving tea, coffee and cakes, and a grassy picnic area for your own food
• Parking on site is limited - follow the directions of the members on hand to help
