Pumpkin Carving

Pumpkin Carving is part of the Halloween programme at Temple Newsam, which runs from 24 October to 1 November 2026. The Walled Garden gardeners help you carve a pumpkin in time for Halloween - ideally the one you sowed there back in April.

What to expect:

• Tuesday 27 and Wednesday 28 October 2026, with sessions at 1pm and 2pm each day
• "Did you sow Pumpkins in April in the Walled Gardens? If you sowed a Pumpkin in the Walled Gardens in April, come back and help carve it for Halloween."
• "Alternatively bring one along, preferably hollowed out, and the gardeners will help carve your design"
• "Book your free spot today! Booking is highly recommended to avoid disappointment."
• Held in the Walled Garden, which also has a pumpkin fact trail among the chrysanthemum collection for Halloween
• Outdoors in the garden, so wrap up; messy work, so old clothes
• An hour per session, and the wider Halloween trail is on across the estate the same week
