ScaresVille is part of the autumn programme at Kentwell Hall in Long Melford, Suffolk.

Locals whisper of an old village that appears in darkest Suffolk every year, where the veil between our world and the Other side is stretched thinnest.

What to expect:

• Fifteen nights through October, 6pm to 11pm, entry by timed half-hour slot from 6pm or 6.30pm
• About an hour on foot through woods, buildings and parkland, in almost complete darkness
• Suggested unsuitable for under 14s, though the organisers leave that to parents; under 18s must be with an adult over 21
• Outdoors whatever the weather and there is mud — wear a coat and boots; no umbrellas or costumes
• You go round in a group of 8 to 10; book for 8 and you will not be split up
• Catering stalls while you wait for your group number to be called
• No wheelchairs in the Scare Zone, and the organisers advise against attending with mobility difficulties
• "Adult (from 33.50 to 48.20)" — prices vary by date and time of arrival
