Tastes Through Time

Tastes Through Time is part of the 2026 programme at Alnwick Castle in Northumberland.

The castle's Great Kitchen, opened to visitors for the first time in 2025, comes back to life for a weekend as cooks work with Victorian tools, ingredients and menus and explain what feeding a ducal household actually took.

What to expect:

• Saturday 10 and Sunday 11 October, 10.30am to 4.30pm
• "Step into the hustle and bustle of a Victorian kitchen!"
• "Discover traditional tools, period ingredients and historic menus as our experts bring Victorian cooking to life throughout the day"
• "From the sights and sounds of the kitchen to the techniques and ingredients used, discover what it really took to prepare food in a Victorian household"
• Demonstrations run through the day, so arrive whenever suits
• Included with castle admission, alongside the State Rooms and battlements
• Indoors in the castle's Great Kitchen
