The Famous Scarycrow Trail 2026

The famous SCARYCROW TRAIL has been running for over 19 years and causes great excitement amongst visitors and locals. Follow the trail of weird and wonderful 'Scarycrows' around the villages, awarding them scores as you go — the totals are added up at the end of the week to decide the winning Scarycrow 2026. The decision is yours.

What to expect:

• Runs 26 October to 1 November 2026 around the Ford & Etal villages, Northumberland
• "There is no charge for the trail but, if you can, please give a donation for the trail map and score sheet" — proceeds go to Cash For Kids Borders and North Northumberland
• Pick up a map and score sheet from a village shop, or download it the week before
• The Scarycrows are on display all the time, so come whenever suits you — they are best seen in the daytime
• No set route; most of it can be walked, but a couple of spots need a car
• Buggy- and wheelchair-accessible, free parking in all three villages
• Dogs welcome; please do not touch the Scarycrows
