The Pumpkin Express - Steam Days is part of the programme at Didcot Railway Centre, the living museum of the Great Western Railway in Oxfordshire. The centre's own invitation: "This October half term, step into a Halloween adventure at Didcot Railway Centre."
What to expect:
- Steam days run 24, 25, 28 and 31 October and 1 November 2026
- Open 10.30am to 4pm; last admission is at 2.30pm
- "unlimited rides on at least one of our two demonstration lines included in your visit"
- A mystery pumpkin trail to solve, with a trick-or-treat gift for finishing it
- Halloween slime making - "A messy, hands-on activity for little witches, wizards and curious explorers"
- A Ghost Carriage to step aboard, and the Phantom diesel locomotive to watch for
- Visiting engine Great Eastern Railway 'Coffee Pot' No. 229, built 1876
