If you are a train enthusiast then you're at the right place. If not then no time like the present to become one. Try and make sure its a live steam day to get the best out of being here. The people you encounter are really keen to share their knowledge and wisdom of railways. Great little museum as well, which can bring back memories of a time gone by.

What an awesome trip back to the past, bringing back memories of the steam era. Plenty to see and do here, two steam trains operating ( only two minutes each way), signaling, restoration, air raid shelter,and seeing old steam engines and carriages. We visited the cafe where pasties , sausage rolls, chips and a variety of cakes and drinks were fairly priced. We spent about two and a half hours there and was well worth the visit

I first visited Didcot Railway Centre as a young boy with my dad in the mid-80s, and every return visit brings those memories flooding back. It truly is a treasure trove for railway enthusiasts. From the iconic coaling stage and the bustling loco sheds to the "hidden treasures" awaiting restoration around the back, there is something for everyone - young and old alike. The staff and volunteers are always friendly and welcoming and willing to share stories and answer questions. Most days, you can experience the sights and sounds of riding behind a "Greyhound of the West" on the demonstration track. Don't miss the Broad Gauge shed; it's a perfect time capsule. The country station and the 0-4-0 with its motorcoach are also highlights. A must-visit for anyone who loves steam - we’re already looking forward to our next trip!

This is how you do it! The lady in the ticket hut was the perfect person to welcome visitors, cheerful, happy a great smile, eye contact and clearly told us where everything was, we got a nice wave from a lady guard on the platform where the train rides start from. The toilets were easy to find and clean, the engine shed was so much fun to explore and the engines were really well labeled with all the Information that you'd want. The ladies in the cafe were really friendly, it's rare to find vegan cakes at tourist spots but they scored a 10 by having vegan jaffa cake sponge Everyone was so friendly but the star of Didcot Railway Centre is Matthew in the shop, give this chap employee of the month! We typically buy a fridge magnet and that's it, but due to Matthew's friendly informed chat we spent £35 mostly on lego, yes they have lego models of their engines, Matthew told us all about them, he knew everything, his enthusiasm was contagious and he put big smiles on our faces, if everyone in the world was so nice life would be so much better. Added bonus to the visit was the red kites flying over the site, so look up.

Went for the first time on New Years Day and thoroughly enjoyed it, several engines were in steam at the engine shed and one was working on the main line, a diesel shunter was working on the short line both taking passengers. I was also very impressed with how many large steam engines were in the shed. And of course the cafe was very good, a large sausage roll and hot cuppa was most welcome on a very cold day.
