About this event
Pre-booked only. Ride our Winter Lights evening trains, hauled by a steam locomotive, on selected dates throughout November and December. A 7 1/4" gauge volunteer-run railway in the grounds of Van Hage Garden Centre, Great Amwell.
What to expect:
- Evenings: Fri 20 Nov, Thu 10, Fri 11, Thu 17 and Fri 18 Dec 2026
- Steam-hauled trains every 20 minutes or so from 17:00, last train 19:50
- Van Hage Garden Centre will be CLOSED during most of the Winter Lights evenings; for sessions from 17:00 park at the very end of the car park and use the railway entrance
- All coaches are open, so dress for the weather; trains run in the rain
- From 17:30 the Tap Shack will be at the railway selling hot drinks
- Pay on the day at the railway ticket office, cash or card; arrive 10 minutes before your train
- Up to 6 adults and children per booking
