WONDER: Why We Believe in Magic is part of the exhibition programme at Somerset House on the Strand in London.
Magic isn't just found in fairy tales - it can be found in the everyday. Our major new exhibition explores why humans continually return to magic, wonder and belief to make sense of a world we can never fully explain.
What to expect:
- 4 February to 18 April 2027, in the Embankment Galleries, South Wing
- 'Designed for curious minds of all ages, an interactive trail will guide younger visitors through the exhibition'
- Extraordinary objects spanning thousands of years: a 40,000-year-old carving, the nineteenth-century 'witch in a bottle', crystal balls and magical manuscripts
- Immersive artworks - gaze into a magic mirror, take home a cosmic tarot reading, add your own wish to a shared space
- 'Under 16 years old - Free'; 'Full Price - £19.50'
- Tickets on sale early October 2026, with a waiting list for priority booking
