An absolutely gorgeous National Trust area, just south of Matterdale forest on the shores of Ullswater in the Lake District. We parked in the main car park and followed the main route to the left. The trail is easy enough to follow providing you have no mobility issues. There are options to extend to the high force route or further to Gowbarrow Fell, which is about 480metres with views over Ullswater. Do make sure you are wearing comfortable walking shoes with a good grip, not wellies like I saw some people struggling with. We took the trail around to the left of the entrance and followed this to Aira Force, the main falls, where there is a viewing platform. We then went back up the steps the way we came and followed the route to high cascades which is a wild and magical walk through ancient woodland, but in my opinion the best way to walk up as it is quite rocky and very slippy, especially after rainfall. We came down and completed the loop by keeping to the opposite side of the river, which brings you back to the main falls. There is a cafe close to the entrance too. If you enjoy being around nature, this is the place to come, you won't be disappointed. Best to pick a bright day, during the week if possible, otherwise arrive early as this place is popular. A must visit!

Beautiful walks with plenty of lovely views of the river, the cascades, the green hills, and breathtaking views. Parking is more miss than hit unless you get in early, but there are 3 different car parks so can move on to the next if the first is full. If just walking up to the falls and the cascades, a 2 hour ticket is more than enough, even with time to grab a coffee at the café.

Absolutely stunning place with incredible views of the waterfalls and beautiful, well-maintained walking trails. The stone bridges offer the perfect vantage point for photos. A must-visit if you love nature!

The waterfall is stunning! The surrounding areas are also really beautiful and there wasn't too many people around. There are some really nice photo opportunities and it is especially nice on a sunny day.

£8.50 is a bit steep for 4 hours parking as the hike didn't take half that time. However. It is beautiful and well kept, platforms provided in certain areas and a little tea and cake shop for a little treat afterwards if you don't mind loosing some weight from your wallet. Nice memories of the waterfall and some great photo opportunities.
