The tower is open at wekends, easy parking and nice walks well worth a visit.

This place is only open on weekends and occasional holidays, so be sure to check the schedule before visiting. The tower in excellent condition and outlook despite of time. Parking is a bit limited due to the small parking lot. It’s located quite far from the city, but the drive is beautiful, with large trees lining the road.

Parked near the tower and wiggled round the tongue of woodland tracks on a slightly damp day, before heading up to Park Hill Fort and then down to Six Wells Bottom, walking up to St Peter's Pump before heading back up to the tower. Lots of lovely tracks to walk and explore with the damp weather enhancing the fragrance of the woodlands. Some are quite steep, but all were clear and easy walking. Tower was closed but I was there for the walk.

Visited on bank holiday when the tower was closed, but a lovely picnic area, free parking and nice country park for a day of walking and enjoying nature

On our way to Devon we stopped here on a weekend. A striking historic tower set in beautiful countryside. Alfred’s Tower offers peaceful surroundings and rewarding views from the top, perfect for a scenic walk with a touch of history. There were coffee van and washroom nearby.
