A lovely site great for solo, couple, family and dog walkers. I think there could be more bins supplied to prevent as many people dropping litter and bags of dog poo. Would have scored 4 if not for the litter and poo bags. Aside from that, it's a great place for a mooch about.

As a dog parent and a responsible dog owner - from driving up to parking to walking around the amount of dog poo bags, and dog poo left all over made the walk a bit disappointing. Yes there no bin! But that doesn’t mean you should all follow the last person and leave your crap on the floor - we double bagged ours and took it home with us (even on a hot day like today) i think people that can’t clean up after their dogs shouldn’t have them! Also there is now a pay and park meter which wasn’t there before we drove in and out and parked on the side which most people was doing- so not sure if they will fine us as we quickly turned around! We was only there for 30min as was too hot for our Spaniel

We wanted a change of scenery but also a slightly less flooded dog walk than most of our regular places. It's a vast place (22 acres) almost completely level with firm tracks and trails and, despite days of torrential rain, just a few soggy areas. There's plenty of 'good sniffin' due to the obvious wild life around. We'll be back.

A lovely, wooded common with good footpaths, great for dog walking and some bridleways for riding and mountain biking. Woodland is mainly coniferous but with some areas of deciduous trees. Also, the conifers are slowly being removed and native broadleaf trees being allowed to regenerate. It is very flat and on sandy or gravel soils, so it's mostly dry, but there are a few areas that get very wet and muddy in winter. There is an inner, fenced off nature reserve, dogs not allowed because of ground nesting birds, snakes (adders and grass snakes), toads and lizards. In summer, this is grazed by longhorn cattle to help biodiversity. There is a small amount of parking at various places around the edge of the woods. Slightly spoilt by the electricity pylons running through the middle but they are mostly hidden when the trees are in leaf.
