This is our first stop in Oxford during a weekend in May. The museum is about 12 mins walk from Oxford train station. Upon arrival, the staff greet visitors by the entrance. It is a very good sized museum with so many different stuffs from various cultures, countries and times. There are many interactive devices for children to play with. When we were there, a stall was set up to showcase ancient coins, we were able to feel and touch the coins, are were from China, some were from Roman time, some where Britain local. The staff was being friendly and patient with our young child. The building itself is very grand and beautiful, especially the big bring door. It is a must visit in Oxford!
The had a really nicely curated exhibit about plants that approached the topic from economic, cultural, commerce, scientific, artistic, and social perspectives. The curration was a masterpiece in itself. Also, a beautiful building with a fascinating collection. Well worth your time if you're a curious nerd.
I highly recommend visiting the Ashmolean museum in Oxford, UK. So much amazing history here to see, I could’ve spent eight hours. There were so many different types of art shown here, from Skees, paintings, sculptures, clockwork, clothing, figurines, ceramic and porcelain. And so much more. Take the time and bring your family to this beautiful museum, you will not regret it. For your convenience, they also have a little café on the lower level, that serves some great fresh food.
The Ashmolean Museum is a fantastic place to visit, and it’s free to enter, although donations are appreciated. The museum offers a lovely variety of exhibits, featuring not only conventional artworks but also alternative gems like the unique pieces seen in the pictures. I would recommend spending a day here to fully appreciate everything it has to offer. Additionally, don’t miss the charming gift shop and the bar downstairs—it’s a great way to unwind after exploring the exhibits!
