Enjoyed a lovely stroll here while on holiday in Torquay. It was my first full day out to Babbacombe, and I loved its quiet charm and wonderful scenery. The pedestrian promenade winds its way along the clifftop between the grassy Downs and the most spectacular views of red sandstone cliffs, clothed in profuse greenery and wildflowers, descending steeply into the bay. It's an easy path to walk, and wheelchair friendly. There's a viewpoint with a coin operated telescope, ornamental lamps, plentiful benches and shelters. The green may have looked very parched after the prolonged heatwave, but the flowerbeds and the theatre garden were filled with vividly coloured flowers. I took the cliff railway down to Oddicombe Beach and back, a fantastic experience not to be missed! The seafront is lined with traditional hotels and cafes with sea views, and it's only a 5 minute walk from the cliff railway top station to Babbacombe's nice little shopping area. The ideal place to take a relaxing break away from the bustle of the larger resorts around Torbay.

Excellent views from the road, very well maintained gardens, you can take a walk down the meandering path to the beach which forms part of the SW coastal path…one day maybe!

A classic 'Prom' space overlooking the bay and Oddicombe beach. It's not particularily long but does have the honour of being the highest in England. It's lined by a number of nice hotels and Cafe's, has a couple of car parks nearby and is next to the Funicular for access down on to the beach. Below it there is woodland with a series of paths (including the SW Coast Path) and at the east end there is Babbacombe Theatre.

Stumbled on this place as wanted to get away from the crowds in Torquay, don’t get me wrong it’s popular but smaller so less people and what a great find it was, there is a large green to relax or let your kids run about, stunning views down to the covers and across out over the sea, lots of hotels with bars, a lovely fish and chip shop and a cliff railway car that takes you down to a lovely beach. The beach is sheltered with two shops and water sport rentals, so you can grab a paddleboard or sea kayak and explore the other coves, a truly delightful place.

Absolutely beautiful place, had a fantastic ice cream at cafe next to the cliff railway and then walked down to Oddicombe beach. You can get the cliff railway all the way down to the beach if you don't want to / can't walk it. Had a nice drink on the beach terrace at the cafe next to beach. Walked along next to the beach to Babbacombe and then walked back up the hill to Babbacombe Downs before having lovely fish and chips with a view. The seagulls enjoyed the fish and chips too!
