Great facilities for not too expensive the gym is a little small but you get scotch horn in the package so is good changing rooms are clean with a lot of space and pool is nice

The pool and the space in theory seems great however like many things under North Somerset councils control it appears to be chronically under funded, the out dated state or the changing rooms along with around 100 chipped or broken tiles in the pool bodged together with silicone really help the facilities show its age. A complete refurbishment is long overdue and I strongly belive the council have the funding for this. However this is no reflection on the staff as they’re fantastic and are probably equally struggling to maintain the ever aging facilities.

After recovering from a knee operation I use the facilities to continue with my hydro exercises several times a week during the day. Staff is very accommodating and helpful. The aqua classes give me additional exercises on top of what I do. As at the moment I do not participate in lane swimming and I can use the general swim sessions for my exercises which is fabulous. If these were also available in the evenings it would be an advantage for when I return to full time work soon. It might be an older facility that needs some investment in the changing rooms however the service of the staff is fantastic.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (10/10 – would recommend… oddly) Blackwell Leisure Centre is a true time capsule. Not dirty — just so magnificently, heroically dated that your brain assumes it must be filthy, even though it isn’t. The tiles have seen things. The paint has lived a full life. The fixtures whisper stories from an era when “modernisation” was still just a rumour. And here’s the thing… I love it. I could swim at Hengrove — shiny, modern, spotless, buzzing with people and ambition. But I choose Blackwell, because the overwhelming sense of “this place might collapse if we all turn up at once” keeps the crowds away. As a result, I often have the pool largely to myself, which is bliss. It’s not unclean. It’s just… tired. So tired it looks unclean. This review is not a criticism of the staff or how the centre is run — quite the opposite. It’s clear people are doing the best they can with what they’ve got. The issue is purely the fabric of the building, which now actively discourages people from using what could otherwise be a fantastic local asset. Feedback to management (with genuine intent): Is there anything we as local users can do to help? Petitions, letters of support, community backing for grants, funding bids — whatever it takes. Because with even modest investment, this place could go from “quiet because it scares people” to “busy because people actually want to be here”. Until then, I’ll continue enjoying my near-private swims in what feels like Britain’s most unintentionally effective crowd-control system.

It’s the only decent pool for a good while. Decent pool temperature. Amazing staff some of whom have been there for absolutely ages which seals their place within their villages’ community. IF I had to make one complaint, sometimes changing rooms can be a little bit mucky although it isn’t really the centre’s fault, and still is minor so 5 stars! Good job and keep it up :)
