Explore a historic Victorian urban park in Abergavenny with playgrounds, gardens, and year-round community events.

Bailey Park is a Grade II listed urban park established in 1884 in the heart of Abergavenny, Monmouthshire, Wales. Spanning 8 hectares (20 acres), this beautifully maintained public space was founded on land donated by Crawshay Bailey, Junior, and represents a prime example of Victorian-era park design. The park features a dedicated play area suitable for families with children, alongside extensive gardens and landscaped grounds. Visitors can enjoy the historic bandstand, bowling greens, and well-maintained green spaces that provide peaceful recreational opportunities throughout the year. The park also hosts regular community events and activities, making it a vibrant gathering place for locals and visitors alike. Bailey Park is managed by Monmouthshire County Council and remains open year-round. A sizeable park cradled between the three famous hills that enclose Abergavenny - The Sugar Loaf, Blorenge and Skirrid. Great views of these hills can be had as you wander around the large park and take in a couple of rugby games, the playground and sensory Garden. Easy flat walking trails and plenty of grass for ball games or running around. Park is pretty solid as well. There are even public toilets on site, which is a real rarity these days.

This was a perfect spot for us to take the dog on a recent stop into town, just across from the morrisions if you need any food for either a picnic or other things and really well suited for everyone's needs, it looked very well looked after, plenty of places to sit, a toilet for those that need it, multiple things for the children to do and overall just a lovely park. Must be a lovely amenity for the locals, I would definitely enjoy something like this where I lived. Overall if in the area stop by you wont regret it.

Good for a walk and a play with the kids. The sensory garden is well maintained. Although loads of dog walkers in the park very rarely see dog mess . We'll done dog walkers. My boy recently had school cross country here. 1 thing though, bring back the swimming pool and lido.
