Barden Tower stands as a fascinating historical ruin within the Bolton Abbey estate, originally built as one of six hunting lodges and administrative seat for Barden hunting forest. The tower was rebuilt in the late 15th century by Henry Clifford, the Shepherd Lord, who made it his principal residence. In 1515, he constructed the adjacent Priest House next to the chapel. Lady Anne Clifford undertook significant restoration work in 1659, though the building eventually fell into decline during the late 18th century. Visitors are invited to wander around the imposing ruins and contemplate its rich and varied history as part of their exploration of the Bolton Abbey estate. More a castle than a tower well worth a visit if your like your historic buildings Had to park on road due to carpark being closed and only for wedding guests

A handsome ruin, viewable up close but from without. Its also an excellent free place to park when walking to Bolton Abbey along the river.

Fabulous ruin which has been preserved. Cannot go inside as all entrances are blocked off. Quiet a sight on the hill side, would of been a site before left to go to ruin

What a stunning place for a visit to soak up the atmosphere of this place. It's just so steeped in history, myth and legend. It must be such a mystical experience to get married here in the ancient Chapel.
